Greetings!
Ahead of the game!
I have the great pleasure to announce that Persephone Productions has raised the
$5000 objective that qualifies us for the 300% matching grant from Quebec.
Our deadline for this was July 12, so we are well ahead!
Persephone owes this great success to all of you who have made your generous
donations and/or attended one of the benefit performances of the Loves of Shakespeare's Women in April.
I am deeply grateful for all of your support in helping to build the future of Persephone.
"The Loves" is Loved
The remount of The Loves of Shakespeare's Women, at the Centre Greene, Centre St-Ambroise,
and in Quebec City, was enthusiastically received. The box office revenues were put towards the endowment fund.
Othello already selling
Board member extraordinaire Judith Schurman and volunteer Pat Machin have already
booked five of the seven school matinées for Othello. Ms. Schurman has gone as
far as to wear a sandwich board that said, "Ask me about Othello" during a teachers'
conference in Montreal in order to sell the show. She certainly got a lot of attention!
Call for assistance
Now that Persephone has reached its financial goal for the endowment, we must turn
our attention to funding our most ambitious production ever, Othello.
A prominent foundation in Montreal recently gave Persephone a grant of $5,000.
The application process was successful because a Persephone supporter, who knows
the president of the foundation, allowed us to use her name in the letter we sent.
