This is Aaron's fourth performance with PERSEPHONE PRODUCTIONS. Some past PERSEPHONE roles include Melchior in Spring Awakening and Child in To the Green Fields Beyond. He has also appeared as Johnny Canuck in Johnny Canuck and the Last Burlesque (2006), and as John Proctor in Arthur Miller's The Crucible (2005). Aaron is a graduate of the John Abbott College Professional Theatre Programme.
Rebecca is a graduate of the John Abbott College Professional Theatre Programme and the British American Drama Academy's Midsummer in Oxford Programme. Selected theatre credits include Margo Wendice in Dial 'M' for Murder, Rose Arnott in Enchanted April, Florence Unger in The Odd Couple, Sydney Bruhl in Deathtrap and Marilla Cuthbert in Anne of Green Gables the Musical. Rebecca is thrilled to be participating in this, her third adventure with PERSEPHONE PRODUCTIONS and is overjoyed to be working with such an extraordinary cast.
Christopher graduated from John Abbott College where he was awarded the Pamela Montgomery Scholarship in Professional Theatre. In the past, he has been involved in PERSEPHONE PRODUCTION's Spring Awakening and To The Green Fields Beyond. Other credits include Sir Andrew in Twelfth Night and Reverend Parris in The Crucible. During this year's Montreal Fringe Festival he was the narrator for Under Milk Wood (Vanguard Productions) by Dylan Thomas. He is most excited to be playing "the other half of the war" as he calls it in Unity (1918) and hopes everyone takes as much away from it as he has.
Kathleen graduated from Concordia University in 2006 with a BFA in theatre performance where she performed in such plays as Our Country's Good and Henry 4 part 1. The next year she joined Geordie productions and toured in two productions to various schools in eastern Canada as well as the Cree nations. Kathleen feels blessed to be playing such a poignant character in Unity (1918) as well as be a part of PERSEPHONE PRODUCTIONS. Kathleen would like to thank the rest of her partners in crime for making this experience highly recommended, as well as Gabrielle for casting her in the play. Stephanie is a graduate of the John Abbott Professional Theatre Programme and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art classical acting program. She has only been acting a few short years and is excited to be working on her first Persephone production.
Jessica is a graduate of the John Abbott College Professional Theatre Program. She was last seen playing the role of Lily Smalls in Under Milk Wood (Vanguard Productions), which was remounted for the 2007 Montreal Fringe Festival. She also composed music for Monster (Fallen Angel Productions). Jessica is thrilled to be working with PERSEPHONE PRODUCTIONS in such an important play. She would like to thank the cast and crew and especially Gabrielle for giving her this wonderful opportunity.
Dustin is very happy to be working with Persephone for the second time on such a powerful piece. He recently toured British Theatres with Youtheatre's one-man production of Bang Boy, Bang!. Past credits include To The Greenfields Beyond (Persephone Productions), The Importance of Being Earnest (Dog Cart Productions), Under Milk Wood (Vanguard Productions), Au Dela De La Ville (Gravy Bath), Murder in Rock Island (Sunset Pictures), and Rocky Balboa (Ubisoft).
This is Eleanor's first time working with PERSEPHONE PRODUCTIONS. A graduate of John Abbott's Professional Theatre program, she was most recently seen as Second Voice in Under Milk Wood (2007 Montreal Fringe Festival). Past roles include Elizabeth Proctor in The Crucible and Feste in Twelfth Night. She is grateful to have the privilege of working on a Canadian play of this calibre, and invites you to take a moment to feel that prairie wind, and maybe even smell the wheat stalks.
Having been raised in the Canadian prairies, Gilda is thrilled to be back on stage in rural Saskatchewan in her first PERSEPHONE PRODUCTION. A recent graduate of Concordia University's Theatre Performance program, Gilda has already had the opportunity to work on several film, TV and theatre productions. Some of her recent theatre credits include Geordie's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and Gravy Bath's Au dela de la Ville and Gayanashagowa. She is an actress, dancer and painter who aspires to become a writer and director. Gilda would like to dedicate this performance to her bionic grandmother Maria Hilda Manriquez.
A graduate of the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Trent Park College of Education, and Concordia University, Gabrielle has had a passionate relationship with the theatre all her life. She has taught drama to hundreds of young people here in Montréal. Gabrielle resigned from her position as a full-time faculty member in the Theatre Department at John Abbott College in order to concentrate full time on Persephone Productions. In March 2005, Gabrielle decided to appear in Patrick Garland's dramatization of A Room of One's Own by Virginia Woolf directed by Jennifer Piercey at La Balustrade Monument National as a fundraiser for Persephone Productions' upcoming season. The critics praised Gabrielle's performance. A Room of One's Own toured various high schools and libraries following its sold out run at Monument National. The tour continued to Hong Kong where the prestigous Helena May Institute for Women sponsored a performance for its members and guests. The 2005 fundraising initiative has successfully increased the exposure of Persephone Productions, and contributed towards funding for the production of A Spring Awakening by Frank Wedekind in November 2005.
Patrice graduated from the scenography program at the National Theatre School of Canada in 2006, awarded by the Lieutenant Governor. He was taught clown work at the National Circus School, Commedia dell'Arte at the Centro della Maschera (Venice) and also graduated in professional acting at John Abbott College in 2002. Since graduation, Patrice has travelled around Europe, taught theatre and visual arts to children as well as designed costumes for Alice au Pays des Merveilles, Faux Départ, Un Sofa dans le Parc and Labyrintourisme. He is very happy to get the chance to work with PERSEPHONE PRODUCTIONS again on such a wonderful script.
Jesse is a native of New Brunswick and a recent graduate of Technical Production at the National Theatre School of Canada (NTS). Prior to his schooling at NTS, he worked as a technician in theatre, music, film and dance and graduated from the Audio Engineering Program at the Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology (London, ON) in 2002. Some highlights include Sound Design for Drift (NTS New Words Festival 2007), Lighting Design for The Cherry Orchard (NTS 2006), Assistant Sound Design for Oklahoma! (Stratford Festival of Canada), and Technical Director for Live Bait Theatre (2003). Most recently he designed the Sound for Groundwater Productions' staging of A thought in Three Parts for the 2007 Summerworks Festival. He would like to thank his mentors Norberts and Peter, and the Ash's.
Sarah has lived in Montreal for the last eight years where she studied Theatre and Philosophy at McGill University and Technical Production at the National Theatre School. She is a member of the Sidemart Theatrical Grocery and a freelance lighting designer in and around Montreal. Some past design credits include "Star Quality" by Noel Coward directed by Keith Turnbull at Theatre Lac Brome, "Looking" by Norm Foster directed by Gordon McCall at the Hudson Village Theatre, and "American Buffalo" by David Mamet directed by Andrew Shaver for Sidemart. Sarah has worked at the Fringe Festival in Montreal and Toronto, the Just for Laughs Festival, the National Arts Centre, and various theatres around town. She is very pleased to be working with Gabrielle for the second time on such a beautiful piece of theatre.
Kevin Kerr is a playwright, director, actor, and founding member of Vancouver's Electric Company Theatre, with whom he's co-written numerous plays including The Wake, The Score, Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands, Flop, The Fall, and Brilliant! The Blinding Enlightenment of Nikola Tesla. In the 1999/2000 season, he was Writer in Residence at Touchstone Theatre where he developed Unity (1918) which earned him the Governor General's Literary Award for Drama in 2002. Recent works include The Remittance Man, which was premiered by Kelowna's Sunshine Theatre, Studies in Motion, which was co-produced by Electric Company Theatre and Theatre at UBC, and the feature-length screen adaptation of the Electric Company play The Score for CBC Television. His latest work, Skydive, received its premiere in January of this year at the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival in Vancouver, co-produced by Realwheels Theatre and the Belfry Theatre in Victoria. He was recently appointed as the Lee Playwright in Residence at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, a two year position in the university's department of drama.
Jacky is a graduate of John Abbott College's Theatre Workshop where she stage managed the productions of Les Belles Soeurs by Michel Tremblay, The Day They Let the Lions Loose by Emilio Carballido, and the John Abbott College Theatre Workshop Alumni Show. She has also performed on the stage in Godspell (Stephen Schwartz), Our Town (Thorton Wilder), Pride and Prejudice (Christina Calvit adaption), and Guys and Dolls (Frank Loesser). Since graduation she worked with different companies in Montreal. Most recently she stage managed To the Green Fields Beyond (Persephone Productions), Sex, a.k.a. Wieners and Boobs (Attack! Attack?) and Thunderspank (Montreal Fringe Festival). She is very happy to be back working with PERSEPHONE PRODUCTIONS on what she considers to be the best play she has every read, Unity (1918).
Before immigrating to Quebec in 2003, Lucile Denys graduated from an interior design program in France. Fascinated by set design since childhood, she applied to the National Theatre School of Canada and graduated in 2006. From 1997 to 2002, Lucile worked in France. Since September 2006, Lucile has been working with two dancers and a musician on a piece entitled Le cheval estropié, which will be a study of sound and noise. This is her second time involved as a costume designer for a Persephone Productions.
Although immersed in the theatre milieu, Melissa's background is actually in music. She has a DEC in Music (classical piano) from Vanier College and an Honours B.A. in Arts Management and Music History from the University of Toronto. She has worked, in an administrative role, at the Milk International Children's Arts Festival (Toronto), the Canadian Conference of the Arts (Ottawa) and John Lambert & Assoc. (Montreal). At university she has played the piano for such productions as Godspell and the Three Penny Opera. Since the birth of her daughter in 2005, she has been working freelance for theatre companies in the Montreal area.
